Knowledge-Driven Automation (KDA):
Generative modeling is often at the heart of any KDA application. It is a generic representation of the product type for which application has been created. The model is normally built using an object-oriented programming language. Unigraphics uses Intent! as its underlying knowledge Acquisition (KA) language. Dassault system uses Engineering Scripting as its underlying Language. The object-oriented architecture of the language allows the application to be built in a modular fashion. This enables complex "smart parts or objects" to be produced and eases further development, upkeep, maintenance, and reuse of the rules and the code. When the user inputs the functional requirements for a new version of the product, the corresponding output (an appropriate end-state of a design) is generated almost instantaneously. In the background, the “smart part” or “smart object” is instantiated, with this new set of input specifications. The captured knowledge (e.g. rules) is kicked in to verify and finally satisfy the relevant X-ability and life-cycle concerns on the part, and a fully-satisfied fully-configured artifact is finally generated/ emerged through this KA process.
Knowledge Fusion is a knowledge Acquisition Language (KAL) tool inside of NX system (previously Unigraphics/ UG solutions). Knowledge Fusion was developed by embedding INTENT KBE tool (previously developed by Heide Corporation) into its (NX’s) geometrical modeler ParaSolids.. Knowledge Fusion provides an integrated rule-based modeling environment for building applications on the top of NX system.
Knowledge Solutions provides KDA for decision-based design, decision support systems, knowledge-based optimization, sales configurations, Expert Systems: Neural networks-based applications, biomedical systems, geographical systems, enterprise software systems, and emerging applications (such as Internet technologies and digital libraries)
